Roc Nation‘s Jahlil Beats has compiled himself an impressive repertoire, having produced for artists like Jay-Z, Diddy, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and more.
Recently, the Pennsylvania producer laid down work on Dave East‘s “On God,”
Despite having a massive collection of Mixtapes in his discography, the underrated producer has never dropped off an official studio album. Luckily, that’s about to change.
In a recent interview with Sway, the producer officially announced his debut album Gratitude,
which is set to drop this summer through Roc Nation. As it stands, the lineup looks pretty stacked, with appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Juvenile, Meek Mill, Dave East, Glasses Malone, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos, Anderson .Paak, Freeway and Beanie Sigel.
No word on whether label-boss Jay-Z will lay down a verse, but we can only hope. Either way,
it should be cool to hear from veterans like Juvenile, Freeway, and Beans, who have been quiet for a minute.
In the same interview, Jahlil talks about drawing inspiration from producers like Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, DJ Khaled, and Diddy, as well as discussing his artist selection strategy. He goes on say he pretty much draws from his favorite artists, singling out Dave East in the process. “Dave East is one of my favorite artists period, off of what he represents and the type of music he’s making, as well as Meek. And Anderson Paak…I want to bring lyrics to the table, as well as dope beats, and that East Coast feel, but like new.” Check out the entire video below.
